Registration with Sri Lankan Customs for Import and Export
Embarking on your journey as an importer or exporter involves a crucial first step - registering with Sri Lanka Customs. Follow these steps to initiate the registration process:
Step 1: Obtain the Application
Submit the "Importer Exporter Registration Application" form, featuring essential fields such as Business Name, Address, and Director/Partner Details. You can acquire the application form from the Customs Department's website, or for your convenience, we've provided a soft copy.
Step 2: Enroll in the ASYCUDA System
Utilize the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) to streamline customs management. Upload company/personal details and partner/individual photographs to ASYCUDA through a Customs House Agent. Refer to the detailed process attached for guidance.
Step 3: Collect Required Documents
Gather necessary documents based on your registration type:
For Limited Liability:
- National Identity Card/Passport of two signing directors, with photocopies of all directors' NICs/Passports (foreign directors must have PR/RV/BV).
- VAT certificate (from the Inland Revenue Department).
- TIN certificate (also from the Inland Revenue Department).
- Commercial invoice and Bill of Lading/Airway Bill (for Importer registrations).
- Certificate of Incorporation.
- Form 01 or Form 20 (Registrar of Companies).
- Deed or Lease agreement of the business premises.
- Billing Proof relevant to the TIN Certificate address.
- Additional forms for changes or updates.
For Sole Proprietor/Partnership:
- National Identity Card/Passport of two partners/applicants and photocopies of all partners' NICs/Passports.
- VAT certificate.
- TIN certificate.
- Commercial invoice and Bill of Lading/Airway Bill (for Importer registrations).
- Business Registration Certificate.
- Deed or Lease agreement of the business premises.
- Billing Proof relevant to the TIN Certificate address.
Step 4: Take Copies
Ensure you have photocopies of all original documents when submitting your registration.
Step 5: Submit Your Application
Submit the completed application along with the required documents to Sri Lanka Customs. Kickstart your import/export endeavors with a seamless registration process.
