In: Company Search

Ensuring that a company name is registered or available is crucial for every entrepreneur. In Sri Lanka, there are various types of business registrations, including:

  1. Sole Proprietorships
  2. Partnerships
  3. Limited Liability Companies
  4. Associations
  5. Societies

Checking Registration for Different Business Types:

  • Sole Proprietorships and Partnerships: These are registered at the provincial level, which can lead to multiple businesses having the same name in different areas. The rule is that businesses on the same road cannot have the same name, but this can vary across different streets.
  • Limited Liability Companies: These have unique names with no duplication allowed. Checking the registration status of these companies is straightforward and can be done online via the eROC website.

Using eROC for Company Registration Search:

eROC is a platform managed by the Registrar General of Companies, the sole regulator and database for all registered companies in Sri Lanka. Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Visit the eROC Website: Log in to the eROC website to search for company details.
  2. Search and Pay: General public access requires a search fee. Once paid, you get 24-hour access to view and download documents containing company details, including the names of directors and shareholders.
